"Work @ SFCU"
Work is going to start this week! I'm half excited, half paranoid about their point system. They make all of our schedules back to back to our classes, so how do we get there without being late? Especially since they also want us to wear dress clothes...
0.5 points received for tardiness, 1.5 for an absenteeism (or over 20 minutes tardy), terminated after 3 points reached. That kind of means that, after 6 tardiness less than 20 minutes or 2 tardiness over 20 minutes, or 2 absenteeism (among other things) will get one terminated.
I may seem to be complaining here, but it seems that sometimes you can't get out of class "10 minutes earlier."
Anyway, I'm looking forward to working there, and will be informing my manager of the implications.
FAIL!

"Reasoning"
Ross and Faris both made many valid points about the differences between examples and reasons and the types of reasoning.
I found that it was difficult thinking about a proposition for a two reasons paper about reasoning. When first reading the articles, it seemed that Ross and Faris covered most of the ground on the topic. I knew that I could spend extra time thinking in order to figure out something they missed, but there wasn't enough time.
Thus, I turned to Age of Propaganda because its chapter was very interesting. It did not yet cross my mind that I could write about a topic of my choice, as long as it was related to the class. Next time, I'll start with creating my own topic in which I am more interested in.
---
I think it's fair to say "HELP" lawl!

"Writing Inside Out"
After today's discussion of the PW excerpt, I recalled the techniques of writing I learned in high school. Not only was I taught to first write the body before writing an introduction, I was also taught to edit my papers backward, starting with the last sentence.
I've also been given the opportunity to break free from the "five-paragraph" templates. In my senior year, I decided to take Individual Literary Analysis, a one-on-one session that met once every cycle to discuss books. It was a very flexible course, allowing me to choose most of thet books I wanted to read, and letting me write about whatever I wanted to write about. Each meeting, both an essay had to be written and a book had to be read. For each book, I had to write journals marking my thoughts, questions, and interesting facts.
Because of all the flexibility I had in my writing experience, many of the skills I had learned pertained to those I have seen in PW.
"Group #4's Top 3 Generalizations"
Mass media’s contribution
Is mass media responsible in altering the public’s opinions/perspectives?
TV is the most effective way to persuade audience because it retains the audience’s attention through both visual and auditory stimuli.
TV is more easily accessible
Images created by advertising
Is it ethical for advertisements to use certain images to their advantage?
Advertising uses sexual appeal, animals, babies, and specific target words like “new” and “easy”
Advertisers take a risk when they use celebrities in their advertisements because it pertains to a specific target audience.
Persuasion
Is violence in media directly influence aggressive behavior ?
Crime rates have increased since the introduction of violence in media.
People are impressionable beings, no matter the consequences.

Class Blog:
"ALL about this weekend?"
First off, I got an internship at the SFCU as a part of the Information Systems Committee and as a Teller/AE intern. Yesterday at 6 pm, I met a few interesting people. I enjoyed talking with board members and I'm excited for training this week. A word of warning -- Don't wear heels in the rain when walking on locust! Watch out at the bridge :)
Secondly, I've finished compiling the murderous schedule of Spring 2010 complete with assignments, readings, exams, breaks, and other due dates/important dates. Before doing this, it seemed like I had a HUUUUUGE, GIGANTIC, ENORRRRMOUS load of work to do -- and seemed to be behind in the ones in which my books have not yet arrived. However, after spreading everything out, things seem more managable -- hopefully it is! We'll have to see as the semester goes on...
Third, is anyone taking notes as they read? I'm finding it something I would be doing -- only if I knew if it actually helps. This semester is full of surprises and busier scheduling!
Finally, this isn't QUITE about this weekend, but I've been going to the gym as many times as possible during the week for 1 hr at a time. Since I've just started after ~3 years of not much exercise, my body has been slowly catching up by forcing me to sleep more. However, I think in about a week or so, I will start to reap the benefits of keeping healthy! If anyone would like a running partner during the week or swimming buddy during the weekend (I'm not that good at swimming!) for motivation, shoot me an email ^^. I hope other people might take my example and start living a healthier life!
I believe I'll sign off here~ Have a nice week everyone!

HAHA LETTER TO THE PROFESSOR

YAY I got bored...time to bombard my professor with clarifying questions :D? See below:
Dear Professor XXXXXXX,
I hope your weekend has been well. I’m writing to ask several questions:
For the blog, I missed 2 required blogs (Wednesday the 20th and Thursday the 21st). I have written blogs on optional dates. Can I write extra ones right now to replace the 2 missed blogs, and guarantee that I will not miss any more, or will I be penalized for missing the blogs on the specific dates?
On the Schedule you provided, I’m confused about what “Topic Readings” refers to. Is it everything listed under the “Read” section? AP and PR are both online books, so should we just bring our laptops for that? For articles such as “Reasons” by David Faris, should they be printed out?
While reading Public Opinion, should I be taking notes, and if so, what information should I be writing down?
Under “Write” for each day, does that refer to things that are due on that day? If so, what time? For example, for Jan 25th, “Write” has listed “Three alternative propositions for possible papers responding to the reading(s).” Would this be due before or after class on the 25th, and would the “reading(s)” refer to “AP: Age of Propaganda” and “PW, 80-96”?
Under “Submit” for each day, should the assignment be submitted before or after class? For example, on Feb 1st, “Submit” has listed “Revision of Two Reasons, and revised outline to Blackboard.” Would this be due before or after class on the 1st?
I think that’s all for now!
Thanks for your time,
K2K

"Total Blogs"
If we were supposed to start blogging for real after wednesday, I think I only missed two -- Today, I've written many blogs to make up for that. After today, I expect I won't be missing anymore :) I hope other people who had the same problem with blogging may want to blog more to make up for it -- Maybe we should ask the professor about it in class.
I am so gonna fail school ;D

"Bones"
I've recently been watching the tv show, Bones, it's really interesting and engaging. It's quite intriguing to see people solve murders just by looking at bones. Thanks to anthropology, it's possible.
"Blogging"
I wonder when we're being graded on these blogs. I know I've accidentally missed a few, like many of class members have. However, I think I'll just post a few more blogs in order to make up for the ones I'm missing -- and then guarantee that I'll try not to miss anymore after this first week.
"Movies"
Has anyone seen any good movies lately? 2010 seems to be a year for a LOT of good new releases. Some include The Lovely Bones, Alice in Wonderland, The Lightning Thief, etc. I already watched The Lovely Bones. However, I had not yet finished the book, so I can't decide which one is better. The only thing that the director was risking on was the portrayal of "Heaven." This is because each person has his/her own view about what "heaven" should be. Thus, the director's portrayal may not be the same as any one reader's image of heaven.
Anyway, I can't wait to watch the new releases! Hope other people are also excited for them.

Okay, here's how it goes. I have to write a 3-line blog per day, from Sun-Thurs. How Fun!??!?! XD
Well, to bore you guys, I'll be double posting :D One here, One there :D Feel free to read if you want XD
"Writing"
Hi all! I do not have much experience in writing blog posts, but I'm happy to have this opportunity to try it out! In ninth grade, I started co-writing fantasy/fiction. Mostly focusing on imaginative and creative writing, my friends and I were able to create worlds of life with just the use of words. I find this truly fascinating. Over the years, I have been on some websites, trying out text-based role playing. Depending on the subject/topic and the participants, sometimes a very entertaining story unfolds. I believe writing is a way to express feelings from author to audience. To be able to convey one's feelings on paper with just ink is remarkable -- people on the other side of the world can pick up a piece of your writing, read it, and feel what you feel. Although it is impossible for readers to all feel exactly what the author intended, it is possible for the author to bring emotion to his/her readers. I find this fascinating.
"Facebook"
Facebook seems to be following Google's trend in becoming a word in a dictionary. People all over the world are now saying "Facebook me" this or "Facebook me" that. Although Facebook is quite an easy way to bring together friends and contacts, I don't see why people spend countless hours at a time on it. Personally, I just check once or twice a day, more if there's something important that I was discussing. It has become more of a daily "check my email" routine, in which I sometimes don't go on at all. I question the value/use of some of the components of facebook. Facebook home seems to broadcast every single friend's status/change in relationship/etc. Who actually has the time to go through all of them (especially people with hundreds, thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of friends)? To me, Facebook is just another tool to connect with others, not something I would spend countless hours a day on. I understand people have different interests, but Facebook seems to negatively affect some people, taking over their lives.
Anyway, thanks to anyone who reads through this whole rant, I chose this topic because a friend of mine spends a minimum of 6 hours a day on Facebook :P. Happy commenting!
"Snow"
I've been surrounded by snow a lot -- big hills of cold, white, fluffiness just in my backyard. However, as a child, I've only experienced the joys of sledding down a white hill after waking up early in the morning and screaming "SNOW!" at the top of my lungs. Only recently have I discovered that I could ice skate without falling over on a pond across from my friend's house. Exciting thing, to be on ice for the first time, and nearly dying from the rivets and bumps all over!
Though I've had fun with ice and snow, what I really want to try is snowboarding and skiing! I don't know why, but the thrill of cutting through the wind at high speeds down a steep hill is very enticing to me. I plan to try it out sometime in the near future ^^.

I guess Anime and Love wins over o.O
About love...I'll talk about it when I learn the true meaning. I have not yet discovered it yet ^^ though I should be honest -- some guys are just too cruel ^^ (to hell with them!!! you know who you are x3 and don't try to kill me after reading this o.O I have bodyguards) -- though there are a few I do love, and the rest are awesome friends ^^
On that happy note, I intend to give a big shoutout to all who reads this (if anyone does read this lul) that I'm totally in "love" with MT, MC, NM, SA, BB and JL! For always being there for me ^^ <3 *mwah* kisses for everyone (on cheeks of course!)
About anime...I haven't seen/read or anything in awhile (omaigawd)
Just watched Whiteout <3 yay ;D suuub sub sub sub SUUUUUB zero weather <33333 yum ^^
I'll be ending here ^^
With love to all but a few bastards,
K2K :)
